guerilla knitting

So, last weekend I was wondering around Newtown with Steve, in search of the perfect sign for his photography homework, when we stumbled across this:

All photos by Stevie

I was instantly reminded of this book I bought last year on Street Art. One of my fave things in there was this concept of guerilla knitting, specifically the work by Knitta where a bunch of renegade knitters began covering public property in colourfully knitted swathes. Since then, its grown as a concept, and there are many artists out there, doing the same thing worldwide. This gem is by Grrl+dog who is based in Newtown and just the other day covered the public loos in Taylor Square in yellow wool. I made Stevie take multiple photos specifically so I could blog it. I don't think he could understand how incredibly excited I was to see it...!
